Weary of Worry/ OMBS7/ Punch a Hole in the Dam

Weary of Worry

Now thanks be unto God, which always causeth us to triumph in Christ, and maketh manifest the savour of his knowledge by us in every place.

- 2 Corinthians 2:14

As you fight the good fight of faith today, remember this: Your mind is where the battle will take place. Whatever you allow to captivate your mind will rule your life. Will it be the Word of God or the lies of Satan?

The decision is yours.

If you want the Word to reign, make up your mind now to resist the devil when he comes to plant doubts within you. Refuse to surrender to the circumstantial pressure he brings your way. Decide at the outset that you will not succumb to this trial. Dig your heels in and stand immovable upon the promises of God.

When thoughts come that are contrary to God's will, cast them down. And above all, don't worry. Worrying is meditating the thoughts of Satan.

When you recognize you are worrying, stop it immediately. Replace worried, fearful and doubtful thoughts with the Word.

Be assured, Satan will continually try to tell you that your situation is hopeless. He will persistently peddle doubt, defeat and discouragement. But if you won't allow him to sell you his goods, his commission will be zero. If you don't buy his lies, he can't cause them to come to pass in your life.

God has promised that He will always cause you to triumph in Christ. You are guaranteed victory over any adversity you face today. Make up your mind right now to be a winner and you'll spread the knowledge of victory in Christ everywhere you go.

PRAYER - "I Would That They Were Cut Off Which Trouble You"

The Church in Galatia was particularly tormented by Jews who refused to abandon the doctrine of circumcision. They tried to entangle the new Christians in some of the old ceremonial rites of the Old Testament. The whole issue threatened the survival of Christianity in those parts. As their Apostle, Paul could have excommunicated them, but false teachers are pernicious, and will not leave people alone. He desired that they would be cut off (Greek: "amputated") from the believers. Sometimes we should pray for troublemakers to be removed.

Galatians 5:12 - "I would they were even cut off which trouble you."

PRINCIPAL - "The First Adam And The Second Adam"

"The first man Adam was made a living soul; the last Adam was made a quickening spirit." Adam was a divinely-created soul, breathed into a body made of earth. The last Adam, Jesus Christ, was the incarnation of God, the life-giver. The natural, mortal, earthly man came first. The heavenly, immortal Savior came second. So are we. Our first man is the human soul. Our new man, received at the New Birth, is the Holy Ghost of Christ.

1 Corinthians 15:47 - "The first man is of the earth, earthy: the second man is the Lord from heaven."

PRINCIPLE - "Be Ye Steadfast, Unmovable, Always Abounding"

Death and dying is often accompanied by terrifying pain and suffering. Loved ones are often overcome with devastating grief and sorrow. But we have hope in Christ to bravely face death. Death has no sting, and the grave has no victory for true believers. His children have the fondest hopes of eternal life beyond the grave. The rewards that await us should greatly motivate us to serve Jesus!

1 Corinthians 15:58 - "Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord."

PROPHECY - "Tongues Are For A Sign To Them That Believe Not"

Isaiah 28:11 prophesied, "With stammering lips and another tongue will he speak to this people." Paul concretely linked that prophecy with the Baptism of the Holy Ghost and speaking in tongues. "In the law it is written, With men of other tongues and other lips will I speak unto this people; and yet for all that will they not hear me, saith the Lord." God devised unknown tongues for a sign to unbelievers.

1 Corinthians 14:22 - "Wherefore tongues are for a sign, not to them that believe, but to them that believe not: but prophesying serveth ...for them which believe."

Punch a Hole in the Dam

So [Israel] came up to Baal-perazim, and David smote the [Philistines] there. Then David said, God has broken my enemies by my hand, like the bursting forth of waters; therefore they called the name of that place Baal-perazim [Lord of breaking through].

- 1 Chronicles 14:11, The Amplified Bible

Like the bursting forth of waters. I love that phrase! It paints such a powerful and accurate picture of a breakthrough.

Do you remember the story of the little boy who saw a leak in the dam and plugged up the hole with his finger? He knew that the force of the water flowing through that one tiny hole would have enlarged the leak with every second that passed. And, as the dam gave way to the pressure, that tiny trickle would have quickly become a raging flood.

Reach out your hand in faith, expect God to break in upon your enemies just like He did for David. That's how your breakthrough will come like the bursting forth of waters!

All you have to do is punch one little hole in that wall of problems, in that devilish dam that's been holding you back. Dig one tiny hole in it with your faith and with the Word of God.

Then keep tearing away at that hole by speaking out that faith day after day. Don't quit! Because God's forces are backed up behind you like an ocean of spiritual water. Each time you speak a word of faith, they leak through. The more you speak and the more you pray, the bigger that leak will get.

Begin your breakthrough right now. Say, "Lord Jesus, I rejoice today that You are Lord of my breakthrough. I thank You that the flood of Your power is about to sweep through my life. I know there is no problem that can stand against it. Poverty can't stand against it. Family problems can't stand against it. Nothing the devil can do can stop my victory. I praise You for it now! Amen."

Keep praying that. Keep believing that. And before long, the forces of God will come bursting through, demolishing every obstacle in their path!
