The Shunammite raised her son that Elisha prophesied during her barrenness. But after a few years, he fell sick and died. She carried the corpse into Elisha's chamber and quickly rode a donkey to Mount Carmel to fetch Elisha. He came and found the dead child in his bed. He shut the door "and prayed unto the LORD," then lay across the child until he became warm. Elisha walked around the house, then stretched across him again. Extraordinary faith in God produces extraordinary results.
2 Kings 4:35 - "The child sneezed seven times, and the child opened his eyes."
PRINCIPALS - "Elisha Feeds 100 Men Miraculously"
Elisha fed pottage to 100 sons of the prophets, but someone unwittingly added poison herbs. "Man of God, there is death in the pot!" Elisha cast meal into it, and it was cured. Someone brought 20 loaves of barley and ears of corn. Elisha told him to feed the prophets. "Should I set this before an hundred men?" Elisha said, "Thus saith the LORD, They shall eat, and shall leave thereof." God can multiply your resources.
2 Kings 4:44 - "So he set it before them, and they did eat, and left thereof, according to the word of the LORD."
PRINCIPLES - "Honor Your Master"
"Naaman, captain of the host of the king of Syria, was a great man with his master, and honourable, because by him the LORD had given deliverance unto Syria." Naaman's maidservant was a captured Israelite who wanted him to go to Elisha for healing. Someone told Naaman, "thus said the maid that is of the land of Israel." We should honor our masters, even if they are enemies.
2 Kings 5:3-4 - "She said unto her mistress, Would God my lord were with the prophet that is in Samaria! for he would recover him of his leprosy."
PROPHECIES - "A True Prophet Knows What Will Happen"
Naaman, a Syrian, needed to see Elisha for healing. His king sent gifts to Israel, requesting the king to receive Naaman and heal him. The king of Israel said, "Am I God, ...to recover a man of his leprosy?" But Elisha heard, and invited Naaman home, and instructed Naaman to wash seven times in Jordan. Naaman indignantly refused, but his servant persuaded him to obey the prophet. He was healed.
2 Kings 5:15 - "He returned to the man of God, ...and he said, Behold, now I know that there is no God in all the earth, but in Israel."
Take Your Place |
But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us, even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ...and hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus. – Ephesians 2:4-6 |
God has raised us up to sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus! That's what the Word of God says. Very few of us have actually dared to believe this. We've uplifted Jesus. We've exalted Him—and rightly so! But at the same time, we've unwittingly belittled what He did by not allowing Him to bring us alongside Him. That was God's purpose at Calvary: to bring us alongside Jesus. To make us what He already was. You see, Jesus didn't need exalting. He was exalted before He ever came to this earth. He was already one with the Father. He didn't need to get authority over the devil—He'd never lost it! He put on a physical body so that He could come to earth as a man and gain authority over sin and sickness, demons, fear, poverty and all the other curses that came when the law of death moved into the earth—and He did it. He succeeded. He mastered everything in the world of the intellect, everything in the physical world. Before He ascended, He said, "All authority is given unto Me both in heaven and in the earth." Then He turned around and gave that authority to us by giving us His Name. You and I are the reason Jesus came to earth and died and lived again. He didn't do it for Himself. He did it so He could bring us alongside. So we could wear His Name and wield His authority on the earth. He did it so that we could stand before God and be everything to Him that Jesus is. When you were born again, you were made the righteousness of God in Christ! So as a born-again believer, dare to receive this message, to meditate on it and to act on it.
