Incapable of making a promise He cannot perform.

PRAYER - "Let Us Lift Up Our Hands Unto God In The Heavens"

Jeremiah rehearsed thirty-two lamentations; things that grieved and distressed him while in captivity. Suddenly, he interjected, "Let us lift up our heart with our hands unto God..." It is as if Jeremiah knew that he could plug into God’s power source and be renewed. If he would reach up to God, he knew God would reach down to him. God said that if we would seek Him, we would find Him!

Lamentations 3:41,50 - "Let us lift up our heart with our hands unto God in the heavens. ...Till the LORD look down, and behold from heaven."

PRINCIPALS - "The Lost Sheep Of Israel"

Here is one of the most powerful and profound allegories in the Bible. God called Israel His "lost sheep." From the time Israel was cast out of the Promised Land, until Jesus Christ establishes His earthly kingdom, Israel is indisputably displaced and "lost." Jesus said, "I am not sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel." He instructed His disciples, "Go not into the way of the Gentiles, ...But go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel."

Jeremiah 50:6 - "My people hath been lost sheep: their shepherds have caused them to go astray."

PRINCIPLES - "The Punisher Must Be Punished"

How often in world history has Almighty God drafted a heathen nation to punish His own chosen people? He drafted Assyrians to remove the ten northern tribes of Israel. Then He drafted Babylonians to remove the remaining tribes of Benjamin and Judah in Jeremiah’s day. But there is mysterious irony in His workings. After they have punished God’s people, they too will be punished - "Because ye were glad, because ye rejoiced, O ye destroyers of mine heritage."

Jeremiah 50:15 - "...for it is the vengeance of the LORD: take vengeance upon her; as she hath done, do unto her."

PROPHECIES - "God Will Bring Israel Back Home And Pardon Them"

God punished Assyria and Babylon for punishing Israel. "First the king of Assyria hath devoured him; and last this Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon hath broken his bones. Therefore thus saith the LORD, ...I will punish the king of Babylon ...as I have punished the king of Assyria. And I will bring Israel again to his habitation." Messiah will then pardon their sins.

Jeremiah 50:20 - "In those days, and in that time, saith the LORD, the iniquity of Israel shall be sought for, and there shall be none; ...they shall not be found: for I will pardon them whom I reserve."

When we get to the place that we believe God like we do the words of our doctor, lawyer or best friend we will not struggle with our faith anymore. When God makes a promise it’s irreversible. God is incapable of making a promise that he cannot perform

Here’s another OMBS Bible Study

PRAYER - "Tell God You Remember His Great Deliverance"

It is easy to forget how great the trials God delivered us from. But in captivity, Jeremiah remembered terrifying days in Jerusalem when God saved his life. He blessed the LORD.

Lamentations 3:52-55,57 - "Mine enemies chased me sore, like a bird, without cause. They have cut off my life in the dungeon, and cast a stone upon me. Waters flowed over mine head; then I said, I am cut off. I called upon thy name, O LORD, out of the low dungeon. ... Thou drewest near in the day that I called upon thee: thou saidst, Fear not."

PRINCIPALS - "Cyrus and the Medes"

Once Judah had endured its seventy-year captivity, God ordained the Medes, under Cyrus, to violently overthrow Babylon. In Jeremiah 51, the Medes are referred to as a destroying wind, fanners (as winnowing or threshing a harvest), an invasion of caterpillars, and spoilers. Babylon could not possibly stand.

Jeremiah 51:1-2,14,53 - "Thus saith the LORD; Behold, I will raise up against Babylon, ...a destroying wind; ...and will send unto Babylon fanners, that shall fan her, and shall empty her land: ...I will fill thee with men, as with caterpillers; ...from me shall spoilers come unto her."

PRINCIPLES - "Our Rock Is Greater Than All The World’s Mountains"

In the book of Daniel, Nebuchadnezzar dreamed of a statue representing the kingdoms of men. He saw a rock, hewn out of a mountain, representing Messiah, come and crush the statue - crushing all the kingdoms of men. The rock became a great "mountain," a kingdom throughout the whole earth. Jeremiah affirmed that Babylon, the great "destroying mountain" would be totally destroyed. Our Rock is greater than all the world’s mountains.

Jeremiah 51:26 - "They shall not take of thee a stone for a corner, nor a stone for foundations; but thou shalt be desolate for ever, saith the LORD."

PROPHECIES - "Israel - My Battle Axe"

God hated the brutish idols of Babylon. "They are vanity, the work of errors: ...they shall perish. The portion of Jacob [the LORD] is not like them; ...Israel is the rod of his inheritance." Under Messiah, Israel - His "battle axe," "the rod of His inheritance," will conquer all nations at Armageddon.

Jeremiah 51:20,24 - "Thou art my battle axe and weapons of war: for with thee will I break in pieces the nations, and with thee will I destroy kingdoms. ...I will render unto Babylon ...all their evil that they have done in Zion in your sight, saith the LORD."

Courtship and Marriage
Things You Must Consider Before You Marry.

Starting Out Alone
We all begin as a solo act. We stand alone in the social scheme of things. We have birth relationships - father, mother, sisters, brothers. But in the course of maturing, we generally desire the companionship of additional people. We develop casual relationships through contacts we have in the various segments of society - our neighborhood, our school, our workplace, our church - to name a few. We often carry our casual relationships further as we experience positive and desirable interactions with others. Acquaintances become friendships. We endear ourselves to others with whom we find meaningful compatibilities.
