OMBS7/ Living by Faith

PRAYER - "Making Mention Of Thee Always In My Prayers"

In almost every epistle (letter) from Paul, he assured his readers that he was regularly praying for them. To the Romans, Corinthians, Ephesians, Philippians, Colossians, Thessalonians, and individually to Timothy, Titus and Philemon, Paul gave verbal assurances that he prayed for them regularly, daily, always. The record shows that Paul must have been a man of persistent prayer. That was a LOT of people to pray for daily.

Philemon 1:3 - "Grace to you, and peace, from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. I thank my God, making mention of thee always in my prayers."

PRINCIPAL - "Disorderly, Disobedient People Who Break Traditions"

Our culture of "diversity" and "tolerance" has bamboozled us into believing that we must accept every kind of behavior. But God demands that we isolate ourselves from those who are disorderly, disobedient, and who break godly traditions. "We command you, brethren, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye withdraw yourselves from every brother that walketh disorderly, and not after the tradition which he received of us." Have NO COMPANY with them.

2 Thessalonians 3:14 - "If any man obey not our word by this epistle, note that man, and have no company with him, that he may be ashamed."

PRINCIPLE - "Warn Them That Are Unruly"

"Warn them that are unruly." Do Pastors still do that? In many Churches, there is no such thing as reproof. The Positive Mental Attitude - Positive Affirmation crowd has filtered out all of the so-called "negatives" of the Gospel. Is that right? No. Reprove. Rebuke. Exhort. "See that none render evil for evil." Church discipline must not be neglected. An undisciplined Church will degenerate.

1 Thessalonians 5:14-15 - "Warn them that are unruly, comfort the feebleminded, support the weak, be patient toward all men. See that none render evil for evil unto any man; but ever follow that which is good."

PROPHECY - "Man Of Sin, Son Of Perdition, Prince Of Rome"

This character was prophesied in Daniel 9:26-27. "The people of the PRINCE THAT SHALL COME shall destroy the city and the sanctuary." Since ROMANS destroyed Jerusalem (70AD), the Prince is Roman. "He shall confirm the covenant... he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease." The Prince of Rome - the POPE, or his agent, will commit the Abomination of Desolation.

2 Thessalonians 2:3-4 - "...that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition; Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, ...so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God."

Living by Faith—It's a Lifestyle

Endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ.

- 2 Timothy 2:3

divider

Times of hardness are inevitable. You need to know that. It's true that we've been redeemed from the curse, and there's nothing Satan can do to reverse that, but he is going to challenge you on it.

So don't be surprised when things get tough. Times will come when you have to stand strictly by faith, when you'll have to speak and act as though what God says is true even when you can't feel it or see it happening around you. There will be times when everything looks terrible. That's when you must endure hardness as a good soldier.

So many people hear the word of faith about healing or prosperity and they think, Hey! I'm going to try that. Then when the hard times come, they give up and cave in.

Let me warn you, living by faith is not something you try. It's a lifestyle. You do it when it's hard. You do it when it's easy. You do it all the time because you're not doing it just to get in on the benefits. You're doing it because you know that faith pleases God (Hebrews 11:6).

Things may get a little rough at times, but let me assure you, you'll always come out on top if you endure hardness as a good soldier. If you refuse to faint and fall away, you will have the victory. The only defeated Christian is the one who quits!

  1. I needed to hear this right now. I have been through a time in my life where I could do nothing but depend on God. I had to believe even when I couldn’t see it, I had to believe even when it didn’t seem as if anyone was there but he was working on my behalf and he still is. He hasn’t stopped and hasn’t failed me yet!
