PRAYER - "Ask A Sign Of The LORD Thy God"

The ten northern tribes, referred to as "Ephraim," allied with Syria against the kingdom of Judah. Ahaz was king of Judah. God instructed him to "Ask thee a sign of the LORD thy God," but Ahaz indignantly refused. He was embroiled in idolatry himself (2 Kings 16:4), and did not want to talk to God. Isaiah slammed him with an epic prophecy. Messiah would come, but not before both Israel and Judah had fallen. I’m 

Isaiah 7:14 - "Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel."

PRINCIPALS - "The Day Of The LORD"

Isaiah was the first to use the phrase, "the day of the LORD," but many more references followed. The simplest way to define the Day of the Lord is one word: Armageddon. Everyone who exalts himself against God will be dealt with that day. God will come down in the man Jesus Christ, and judge His enemies, including every soothsayer, the haughty, and all idolaters.

 Isaiah 2:12 - "For the day of the LORD of hosts shall be upon every one that is proud and lofty, and upon every one that is lifted up; and he shall be brought low."

PRINCIPLES - "Woe Unto The Wicked!"

This is a most fundamental truth, but somehow, this generation no longer believes it. So many people no longer believe in sin, much less that there will be any punishment for sin. But be warned. Almighty God is still taking notes, and sooner or later, He will call every one of us to judgment.

Isaiah 3:10-11 - "Say ye to the righteous, that it shall be well with him: for they shall eat the fruit of their doings. Woe unto the wicked! it shall be ill with him: for the reward of his hands shall be given him."

PROPHECIES - "Judgment Of The Daughters Of Zion"

One of the most difficult tasks on earth is to convince a haughty woman of her vanity. "Because the daughters of Zion are haughty, and walk with stretched forth necks and wanton eyes, ...the Lord will take away the bravery of their tinkling ornaments about their feet, ...the chains, ...bracelets, ...ornaments, ...headbands, ...earrings, ...rings, ...nose jewels, ...changeable suits of apparel, ...fine linen..."

Isaiah 3:24 - "Instead of sweet smell there shall be stink; and instead of a girdle a rent; and instead of well set hair baldness; and instead of a stomacher a girding of sackcloth; and burning instead of beauty."

• All humble people cannot be humiliated or offended, because their self-focus has vanished, swallowed up by their love for God, themselves and others. 

• Perfectionism and control tend to produce only shame and fear. But when we are justified by Christ’s perfection through faith in the finished work of the cross, He becomes our perfection. Suddenly, we are enough.

The focus isn’t on self, it’s on giving our best to serve Christ and others. That’s when we see God moving and people being challenged and changed. That’s when serving God becomes an exciting ride! Thank You God for the opportunities You allow to work with others!
