His Still Small Voice / OMBS7

His Still Small Voice

But the anointing which ye have received of [God] abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth.

- 1 John 2:27

Have you ever noticed that you are sometimes aware of certain things even before you know what the Word says about them? That’s because the Holy Spirit is inside you teaching you the truth. He speaks into your spirit. Then your spirit relays His promptings to your mind. Suddenly, you’ll have a new thought. I need to forgive that person, you’ll think, or I need to stop saying those unkind things.

As you become more aware of the Spirit of God in your everyday affairs, you’ll be quicker to hear and obey those promptings. You’ll actually get in the habit of allowing the Spirit of Truth to reveal the will of God to you. And, believe me, that’s one habit God wants you to have!

One of the first things that the Spirit said to me when I began to listen to His promptings was, Spend more time in prayer. As I obeyed, I began to be impressed to spend at least one hour a day in prayer. After I’d begun to do that, He revealed it to me in His Word (Matthew 26:40).

Since then, I have talked with people from all over the world who are hearing the same thing. Believers everywhere are hearing the Spirit of God direct them to more prayer.

God hasn’t given the Holy Spirit to just a few special Christians. He’s given Him to all of us. And if we’ll just learn to be sensitive to His voice, He’ll guide us into all truth!

Think about how different your life would be if you knew the truth of God about every situation! Doesn’t that just make you want to listen to your spirit? Doesn’t it make you want to be on the keen edge of what God is saying?

Start tuning your ear to His still, small voice within you. Honor Him and welcome His guidance into your everyday affairs. Listen for His promptings and be quick to obey. He’s ready to speak to you

PRAYER - "Having Two Good, But Conflicting Desires"

Sometimes, you want two things that cannot be had simultaneously. Neither is bad, but you must choose. "I am in a strait betwixt two, having a desire to depart, and to be with Christ; which is far better." Heaven holds the ultimate allure, but we want to save our loved ones. Heaven can wait. "Nevertheless to abide in the flesh is more needful for you." Pray for longevity. Expect it. God will call you when He is ready.

Philippians 1:25 - "Having this confidence, I know that I shall abide and continue with you all for your furtherance and joy."

PRINCIPAL - "The Faceless Preacher"

When God called Paul into the ministry, he "conferred not with flesh and blood." Paul's relationship with Jesus was profound. He did not go to Jerusalem to consult the apostles. For three years, he was essentially isolated in Arabia, then in Damascus. Afterward, he spent fifteen days with Peter in Jerusalem. So, for about seventeen years, the great Apostle was unknown by face in Israel. You do not need recognition. Serve God anonymously, if necessary.

Galatians 1:21-22 - "Afterwards I came into the regions of Syria and Cilicia; And was unknown by face unto the churches of Judaea."

PRINCIPLE - "Suffer Gladly, That The Power Of Christ May Rest On You"

Moses preferred to suffer affliction as an Israelite rather than inherit Egypt's luxuries. He must have believed that the power of God that is manifested while we do His will is worth more than all the world's wealth. Paul understood that. He actually rejoiced about the infirmities he suffered as he did the will of God. He saw how God works mightily in behalf of those who suffer for Him. Thank God for your infirmities! Rejoice!

2 Corinthians 12:9: "Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me."

PROPHECY - "The Gospel Was Committed To Peter And To Paul"

There are no mistakes with God, and no accidents in His Kingdom. Peter was an eyewitness to the Savior, and was visited repeatedly by angels. Paul was visited by the Lord from Heaven, and angels also appeared to him. In the eternal plan of God, these two had been ordained from the foundation of the earth. Paul said, "the gospel of the uncircumcision was committed unto me, as the gospel of the circumcision was unto Peter."

Galatians 2:8 - "He that wrought effectually in Peter to the apostleship of the circumcision, the same was mighty in me toward the Gentiles."

  3. In Hosea 5:15 the Lord says, “…in their affliction they will earnestly seek me.” Idon’t like to admit it, but the truth is that at times I have sought God more earnestly when I have been in trouble. Problems have a way of getting us on our knees.
