Famines Are Not Accidental

Ephesians 2:6 KJV "And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus:"
We were all held captive by sin before Jesus walked us out of it’s control. Is it not wonderful where God has placed us and "made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus".  Dreams can sometimes suggest we are still in the awful place where Jesus found us. But when we fully awake we realize it’s just a dream, a lie.  We’re free and have received life more abundantly. We made the decision to walk out of sin when the devil owned us! Let’s ask ourselves the question, "Which is harder, to be delivered from the past life of sin, or to awaken from a lying dream? The first, right?  Then why do we receive the fears from these subliminal suggestions?  God has given us His peace. Philippians 4:7 tells us, " And the peace of God, which passes all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Jesus Christ".
Colossians 1:13 KJV  Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son:
Jesus delivered us while we were in sin’s prison. Don’t let a voice (thoughts) put you back in the prison God delivered us from.  Jesus gave us power to follow His example on earth!  (Matthew 4:23 KJV)  "And Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all manner of sickness and all manner of disease among the people."

Famines Are Not Accidental.
Into His marvelous light

Pharaoh's Dreams

God showed Joseph the meaning of Pharaoh's dreams. Seven lean cows devoured seven fat cows. Seven withered ears of corn devoured seven full ears of corn. It meant that Egypt would have seven years of bounty followed by seven years of famine. God showed Pharaoh and Joseph things to come, and God used Joseph to save multitudes in those days, both Egyptians and Children of Israel.

Genesis 41:32 - "And for that the dream was doubled unto Pharaoh twice; it is because the thing is established by God, and God will shortly bring it to pass."

Pharaoh

Pharaoh was almost always antagonistic to the Hebrews. But in the story of Joseph, he was a protagonist. When a man's ways please the Lord, God causes even his enemies to be at peace with him.

Genesis 41:39-41 - "Pharaoh said unto Joseph, Forasmuch as God hath shewed thee all this, there is none so discreet and wise as thou art: Thou shalt be over my house, and according unto thy word shall all my people be ruled: only in the throne will I be greater than thou. ...I have set thee over all the land of Egypt."

Corn In Egypt

The famine in Canaan was no accident. God was orchestrating an epic story. God had warned Abraham many years earlier that his descendants would become strangers in a land that was not theirs. Now it was about to begin, but they had not a clue. Israel would be forced to Egypt to survive, but miraculously, Joseph was already there with their salvation. So was God.

Genesis 42:2 - "And he said, Behold, I have heard that there is corn in Egypt: get you down thither, and buy for us from thence; that we may live, and not die."

Dreams Remembered

When Joseph's brothers showed up on Egypt's doorsteps, it must have been an awesome sight for Joseph. A million thoughts must have crossed his mind. They did not recognize him. He could have easily avenged himself of all their past cruelties, but he only toyed with their minds. He knew that God was in the whole matter. By God's will, he was their wealthy benefactor.

Genesis 42:9 - "And Joseph remembered the dreams which he dreamed of them, and said unto them, Ye are spies; to see the nakedness of the land ye are come."

Here’s another OMBS!

Thou Art Even As Pharaoh

Way back yonder in Joseph's dream, he saw his brethren bowing down to him. "We were binding sheaves in the field, and, lo, my sheaf arose, and also stood upright; and, behold, your sheaves stood round about, and made obeisance to my sheaf." Genesis 37:7. Many years later in Egypt, Joseph had the mastery over his brothers and could easily have had them destroyed. As humiliated aliens before Pharaoh, they begged for mercy. Prophecy fulfilled.

Genesis 44:18 - "Judah came near unto him, and said, Oh my lord, ...let not thine anger burn against thy servant: for thou art even as Pharaoh."

They Had Abused Joseph, But Had To Defend Benjamin

Joseph played some serious mind-games with his brothers. He framed them for crimes they did not commit, although he had no intention of prosecuting them. He only wanted to teach them a long-overdue lesson. They had hated and betrayed him, so Joseph forced them to defend Benjamin.

Genesis 44:20-23 - "We have a father, an old man, and a child of his old age, a little one; and his brother is dead, ...if he should leave his father, his father would die. ...I pray thee, let thy servant abide instead of the lad ...and let the lad go up with his brethren."

Enslaved To Save Lives

Joseph sent his brothers away with the money they paid him hidden in their grain sacks. Joseph's silver cup was in Benjamin's sack. Then his servants arrested them and charged them with theft. But Joseph dropped the charges. "I am Joseph," he weepingly confessed. Their old sins against Joseph turned out for everyone's good. Same for us. God has a glorious outcome for all our sufferings.

Genesis 45:5 - "Now therefore be not grieved, nor angry with yourselves, that ye sold me hither: for God did send me before you to preserve life."

Goshen

Joseph knew God had put him through his trials in Egypt to preserve the posterity of Israel. "...it was not you that sent me hither, but God: and he hath made me a father to Pharaoh, and lord of all his house, and a ruler throughout all the land of Egypt." Joseph gave them the fertile land of Goshen.

Genesis 45:10 - "And thou shalt dwell in the land of Goshen, and thou shalt be near unto me, thou, and thy children, and thy children's children, and thy flocks, and thy herds, and all that thou hast."
