OMBS7/ You Hold the Keys

PRAYER - "Praying About A Thorn In The Flesh"

His many amazing supernatural experiences could have made Paul proud, but God gave him a thorn in the flesh. He called it, "the messenger of Satan to buffet me, lest I should be exalted above measure." He asked God to remove it, but God said, "My grace is sufficient..." If God gives you a thorn - YOU NEED IT! It will glorify you.

2 Corinthians 12:9-10 - "Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ's sake."

PRINCIPAL - "Wealth And Riches"

There is an evil teaching that Christians should seek earthly prosperity so that they may bless others. That is contrary to the scriptures. "Labour not to be rich," Proverbs 23:4. Jesus blessed the poor in Spirit. Paul said, "Let no man seek his own, but every man another's wealth." "He that maketh haste to be rich shall not be innocent," Proverbs 28:20. "He that hasteth to be rich hath an evil eye, ...poverty shall come upon him," Proverbs 28:22.

1 Corinthians 10:33 - "...not seeking mine own profit, but the profit of many, that they may be saved."

PRINCIPLE - "We Must Not Do Wrong Just Because It Is Lawful"

Paul was obviously discounting the defense that "all things are lawful for me," (v.23). That may be good in theory, but in practice, there are many things that we should abstain from. Whether it is eating meats offered to idols, or ANY questionable or doubtful practice, the true Christian is obligated to magnify, not reproach, Jesus or His Church in any way.

1 Corinthians 10:31-32 - "Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God. Give none offence, neither to the Jews, nor to the Gentiles, nor to the church of God."

PROPHECY - "Show The Lord's Death Till He Comes"

The Last Supper was one of the most powerful prophetic events in the Bible. It prefigured the sacrifice of Jesus' body and blood. He clearly knew that He would die the next day, long before anyone else knew. Communion is the singularly most significant ordinance of the Church. At least once a year, preferably at the time of Passover, we should ourselves participate in the Communion of the Lord, a sacred pantomime of His supreme sacrifice.

1 Corinthians 11:26 - "For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye do shew the Lord's death till he come."

You Hold the Keys

I have pursued mine enemies, and overtaken them.... they are fallen under my feet.

- Psalm 18:37-38

If you've been standing around wringing your hands and worrying about what the devil is doing, it's time you made a switch. It's time you put that devil under your feet!

Jesus has already given you all the power and authority you need to do it. He's given you the keys of the kingdom. He's promised you that whatever you declare locked on earth is locked in heaven and whatever you declare unlocked on earth is unlocked in the heavenlies (Matthew 16:19). That means you can speak the Word and bind wicked spirits. You can speak the Word and loose the angelic forces of God to work in your behalf.

What's more, you've been given the power of attorney that enables you to use the mighty Name of Jesus. A Name that's above every other name. A Name which will cause every knee to bow—in heaven, in earth, and under the earth (Philippians 2:9-10)!

So, don't waste time worrying about the devil. Take authority over him. Bind the evil spirits that try to destroy your home, your church and your nation. Loose God's Word in the earth and enforce it with the Name of Jesus.

You hold the keys. Learn to use them and before long the devil will be wringing his hands worrying about you!

  1. Scriptures state Saul became a whole other man when the anointing came upon him. The Bible also states that David became a lion, bear and giant killer after his anointing.

Paul stated he knew another man (a more anointed version of himself) in Christ. The knowing of the 'other man' meant Paul had to be crushed by God so his capacity to handle the power and revelation of God wouldn't destroy him. David himself was harried, pursued and nearly killed by Saul - who never had a soul crushing to lower his pride, hence his fall and self reliance.

The anointing makes you 'another man', but without God bringing the counterbalance against that weight of the anointing, you will fall. You MIGHT even continue in a measure of gifting (Saul in 1 Sam 19), but you will eventually fall.
