OMBS7/ Let God Do It His Way

PRAYER - "You Have Approved Yourselves To Be Clear In This Matter"

When a preacher expends himself trying to convince people to confess their sins and humble themselves in repentance, it can be emotionally depleting. Many a preacher has left the scene entirely exhausted, even discouraged. No wonder, then, that Paul rejoiced when the Corinthians "sorrowed after a godly sort," and exhibited many characteristics of genuine contrition: "what carefulness it wrought in you, yea, what clearing of yourselves, yea, what indignation, yea, what fear, yea, what vehement desire, yea, what zeal, yea, what revenge!"

2 Corinthians 7:11 - "In all things ye have approved yourselves to be clear in this matter."

PRINCIPAL - "Idols And Offerings To Idols"

If a young convert had seen Paul eating meats offered to idols, he would probably have been greatly confused or distressed by the mixed signal from Paul, and might have stumbled at Paul's inconsistency. Likewise, if someone sees you, a professing Christian, participating in activities that are normally perceived as worldly or sinful, then you are a potential stumblingblock to them. Paul promised he would not do that. You should, too.

1 Corinthians 8:13 - "Wherefore, if meat make my brother to offend, I will eat no flesh while the world standeth, lest I make my brother to offend."

PRINCIPLE - "To Marry, Or Not To Marry?"

When a relationship begins to manifest strong sexual attraction, it is time to marry or break up. "If any man think that he behaveth himself uncomely toward his virgin, ...let them marry." Anyone with the willpower to remain celibate does well. "He that giveth her in marriage doeth well; but he that giveth her not in marriage doeth better." Even widows do better to remain single.

1 Corinthians 7:39-40 - "If her husband be dead, she is at liberty to be married to whom she will; only in the Lord. But she is happier if she so abide. Corinthians 7

PROPHECY - "Israel's Glory And Failure Served Prophetic Purposes"

God originally chose Israel with prophetic intent. "Ye are my witnesses, saith the LORD," Isaiah 43:10. But Paul said, "With many of them God was not well pleased: for they were overthrown in the wilderness. ...Now these things were our examples, to the intent we should not lust after evil things, as they also lusted. Neither be ye idolaters, ...Neither let us commit fornication, as some of them committed, ...Neither murmur ye, as some of them also murmured, and were destroyed."

1 Corinthians 10:11 - "All these things happened unto them for ensamples: and they are written for our admonition."

As parents, God commands us to teach and train our children in His Word and His ways, so they can live a victorious life. The Bible is very clear that we are not to raise them with fear.

There IS a God. He is real beyond any. He controls all the affairs of heaven and earth, and of men and angels!

The Bible is the most ancient and historically substantiated declaration anywhere about God. There is no greater.

Ask God to keep the eyes of your spirit open to the risen Christ, and it will be impossible for the drudgery to dampen you.

Let God Do It His Way

Elisha sent a messenger to him, saying, Go and wash in Jordan seven times, and your flesh shall be restored, and you shall be clean. But Naaman was angry....

So often we miss out on what God wants to do for us because He doesn't do it the way we think He should. We work up an idea in our minds about how He's going to heal us, for instance. We think He's going to send some famous preacher to lay hands on us or that He's going to knock us off our feet with a blast of His power. When He doesn't, we let our faith drop and foul up what He had actually planned to do.

That's what Naaman did. He went to Elisha expecting to be healed in a particular way. When it didn't happen that way, the Bible says, he went away in a rage.

What Elisha told him to do was simple. Dip seven times in the Jordan. Naaman could do that. But it didn't fit his idea of how his healing should take place. He thought Elisha would heal him by waving his hands around and calling on the Name of the Lord.

Naaman stormed away and he would have missed out on his healing if one of his servants hadn't talked him into giving Elisha's instructions a try.

I used to be like that. I wanted spectacular experiences from God so badly I was missing out on the experiences God had planned for me. Once I realized that, I quit looking for feelings and spectacular manifestations and just started expecting God to keep His Word.

I remember I went to a meeting one night with my ankle messed up terribly. The pain was so severe it went from my foot all the way up to my shoulder blades. But I went into that meeting expecting God to heal me.

During the praise service, I ignored the pain in my foot and just sang and worshiped with everyone else. When the preaching started, I got my Bible and got involved in the Word. Sure enough, sometime during that service I was healed. I don't know when it was. I didn't feel anything. I didn't see any sparklers go off. I didn't even realize I'd been healed until after the service. I got about halfway to the door and thought, Glory to God, my foot's well!

Don't let your own ideas of how God's going to work rob you of your healing or your deliverance or your prosperity. Just trust Him and let Him do things His way. He will work mightily in you.

  1. I saw a movie where God was telling one of His children who lost his daughter. "When all you see is your pain you lose sight of me.

I thought that was awesome! Then God spoke to me right then and there and said "turn that around"....

I bawled because it was so much more powerful...

""When all you see is Jesus, YOU LOSE SIGHT OF YOUR PAIN!
