OMBS7/ in Good Times and Bad

PRAYER  - "I Call God For A Record Upon My Soul"

Obviously, Paul took his calling and ministry very seriously. I pray that ministers around the world will experience a sobering realization that every move they make has an eternal effect, good or bad, on those they serve. Paul felt keenly self-conscious about when and how he should visit Corinth. Despite his zeal, Paul refrained from visiting the Church in an untimely fashion. Remember that God is a witness to every move you make. Welcome His oversight.

2 Corinthians 1:23-24 - "I call God for a record upon my soul, that to spare you I came not as yet unto Corinth."

PRINCIPAL - "You Have Not Many Fathers - Be Ye Followers Of Me"

Paul held himself and Apollos as examples to the Corinthians, to teach them not to be puffed up (proud, big-headed). He listed many abasements and humiliations they endured, and said to them, "I write not these things to shame you, but as my beloved sons I warn you. For though ye have ten thousand instructors in Christ, yet have ye not many fathers: for in Christ Jesus I have begotten you through the gospel." Resist "teachers" whose lives are carnal. Follow men who are crucified with Christ.

1 Corinthians 4:16 - "Wherefore I beseech you, be ye followers of me."

PRINCIPLE - "The Kingdom Of God Is In Power"

Some big-headed men were trying to assert themselves in the Corinthian Church. Paul sent Timothy to "bring you into remembrance of my ways which be in Christ, as I teach every where in every church." He acknowledged that "some are puffed up," and would not receive him. But Paul determined to defeat their proud words with the power of God.

1 Corinthians 4:19 - "I will come to you shortly, if the Lord will, and will know, not the speech of them which are puffed up, but the power. For the kingdom of God is not in word, but in power."

PROPHECY - "The Unrighteous Shall Not Inherit The Kingdom Of God"

"Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God." "Why tarriest thou? arise, and be baptized, and wash away thy sins, calling on the name of the Lord," Acts 22:16.

1 Corinthians 6:11 - "Such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God."

In Good Times and Bad

Because he hath set his love upon me, therefore will I deliver him: I will set him on high, because he hath known my name. He shall call upon me, and I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and honour him.

- Psalm 91:14-15

God is called by many names. He is the Lord our Healer, our Provider, our Banner and our Righteousness. He also promises to be our Deliverer. In this troubled world that may very well be what we need Him to be most often.

But there are many believers who never experience God's mighty delivering power because, instead of walking closely with Him day by day, they wait until danger strikes to call upon Him. That just doesn't work. If you want God to rescue you in the bad times, you have to fellowship with Him in the good times. Why? Because God responds to faith. Our faith—not our need—is what causes Him to act on our behalf. And we'll never be able to develop that kind of faith, that kind of trust and confidence in Him, if we don't spend enough time with Him to get to know Him.

First John 3:20-22 tells us that we have confidence toward God when we do the things that are pleasing in His sight. If we only serve God halfheartedly, then we will not have confidence in Him to deliver us from trouble. When danger surrounds us, instead of being filled with faith, we'll find ourselves paralyzed with fear.

Love and serve God with your whole heart. Walk closely with Him in the good times. Then, when you need Him to be your Deliverer, you'll know without a doubt you can trust Him to care for you!

    To convince you into anything, that is NOT within God's word.

    Nor try to change anything, within God's word.

    Nor allow yourself to be greater, than your God, that is in heaven.

    Nor try to take credit for what God has done.

    Nor allow yourself to think your better, than those around you.

    Remain humbled and obedient and faithful, unto the Lord Jesus Christ.

    Draw nearer and closer unto your Lord your God, to guide and direct you in all things and help you, within life's journey,
    in every way.
