OMBS7/ Free From Fear

The Day after Jesus

The day after Jesus' transfiguration, crowds gathered again. He healed a boy of seizures, rebuking the unclean spirit in him. Everyone was amazed at the mighty power of God. But amidst the clamor, Jesus suddenly delivered a very sober message for His disciples. "Let these sayings sink down into your ears: for the Son of man shall be delivered into the hands of men." They did not understand, but were afraid to ask. Most people fear hard sayings. But ignorance can be perilous. Ask!

Luke 9:45 - "They perceived it not: and they feared to ask him of that saying."

PRINCIPAL - "Joseph Of Arimathaea And The Linen Shroud"

Joseph of Arimathaea was a rich disciple of Jesus, "an honourable counsellor, which also waited for the kingdom of God." He persuaded Pilate to give him Jesus' body for burial. He brought fine linen and took Jesus down from the cross. Nicodemus helped him wrap Jesus' body in linen and spices, and place Him in a stone sepulchre. If claims about the "Shroud of Turin" are legitimate, it belonged to Joseph of Arimathaea.

Mark 15:46 - "And laid him in a sepulchre which was hewn out of a rock, and rolled a stone unto the door of the sepulchre."

PRINCIPLE - "The Broken Body, The Rent Veil Exposed The Glory"

At the Last Supper, the broken bread symbolized the broken body of Jesus - the injuries He would sustain in crucifixion. The breaking of His body can also be likened unto the rending of the veil in the temple. As the Holy of Holies was behind the veil, the hidden glory of God was behind the body of Jesus. The centurion who stood nearby caught a glimpse.

Mark 15:39 - "When the centurion, which stood over against him, saw that he so cried out, and gave up the ghost, he said, Truly this man was the Son of God."

PROPHECY - "The Great Tribulation Shortened For The Elect's Sake"

Of the Great Tribulation (42-months before Armageddon), Jesus said, "Except that the Lord had shortened those days, no flesh should be saved: but for the elect's sake, whom he hath chosen, he hath shortened the days." The ELECT are those who are obedient to the gospel, washed in the blood of Jesus, and sanctified by the Spirit, according to 1 Peter 1:2. Satan would totally destroy the ELECT - the Church - but God will intervene.

Mark 13:22 - "False Christs and false prophets shall rise, and shall shew signs and wonders, to seduce, if it were possible, even the elect."

I would like say that it has been such a blessing to add this few lines of biblical scripture. Thanks for taking the time to read. Also we will not be sending out by text because we’re experiencing phenomenal service. So if you like getting the Bible study sign up on the page.  G. Ashcraft

Free From Fear

For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.

- 2 Timothy 1:7

What would you think if I told you that you could live without fear? Would you believe me if I said that despite what you saw on the news tonight, you could be perfectly at peace? Impossible? Unrealistic? No!

You see, fear isn’t just a reaction to external circumstances. It’s a spiritual force. It begins inside of you. And it is totally destructive. In fact, fear is Satan’s primary weapon. He moves in response to fear, the way God moves in response to faith. He challenges the promises of God with it.

An excellent example of this is found in Matthew 14 when Jesus invited Peter to come to Him on the water. “But when he [Peter] saw the wind boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink, he cried, saying, Lord, save me” (verse 30).

What enabled Peter to walk on the water? His faith in the Word of Jesus. What caused Peter to sink? He saw the wind boisterous and he was afraid. It wasn’t the wind that defeated him, it was his fear of it! He looked at his circumstances, gave in to the fear, and the result was defeat. If Peter had kept his focus on Jesus, his faith would never have wavered. All the blustering and blowing in the world couldn’t have drawn him off course.

Faith is developed by meditating on God’s Word. Fear is developed by meditating on Satan’s lies. Such fearful meditation is called “worrying.” Don’t do it!

The Word of God is the sword of the Spirit. Use it to fight Satan every time he comes against you. Hold up your shield of faith and quench all of his fiery darts. Speak words of faith and fear will depart.
