PRAYER - "Prayer Not Needed?"
no specific references to particular prayers in the story of Joseph. That does not mean that Joseph did not pray or need to pray, just that God works sovereignly from His throne and is not hostage to our prayers or our prayerlessness. Anyone who prays and seeks God's will daily will see God lead on, as Joseph did.
Genesis 41:14 - "Then Pharaoh sent and called Joseph, and they brought him hastily out of the dungeon."
PRINCIPALS - "Pharaoh"
Pharaoh was almost always antagonistic to the Hebrews. But in the story of Joseph, he was a protagonist. When a man's ways please the Lord, God causes that man's enemies to be at peace with him.
Genesis 41:39-41 - "Pharaoh said unto Joseph, Forasmuch as God hath shewed thee all this, there is none so discreet and wise as thou art: Thou shalt be over my house, and according unto thy word shall all my people be ruled: only in the throne will I be greater than thou. ...I have set thee over all the land of Egypt."
PRINCIPLES - "Keys to a Bountiful Harvest"
The law of the harvest says that you reap what you sow. You also reap in proportion to what you sow. Sow nothing, reap nothing. Sow much, reap much. It is true of sin and of righteousness. We are watching an evil generation reaping a whirlwind of trouble. Do you want to see a flood-tide of goodness and blessings? Sow goodness and righteousness profusely, everywhere you go.
2 Corinthians 9:6k - "But this I say, He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully."
PROPHECIES - "Pharaoh's Dreams"
God showed Joseph the meaning of Pharaoh's dreams. Seven lean cows devoured seven fat cows. Seven withered ears of corn devoured seven full ears of corn. It meant that Egypt would have seven years of bounty followed by seven years of famine. God showed Pharaoh and Joseph things to come, and God would use Joseph to save multitudes in those days, both Egyptians and children of Israel.
Genesis 41:32 - "And for that the dream was doubled unto Pharaoh twice; it is because the thing is established by God, and God will shortly bring it to pass.
Strength Made Perfect
And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.
– 2 Corinthians 12:9
When you run into an impossible situation, a situation you simply don’t have the strength or the ability to handle, are you often tempted to simply give up and accept defeat? Don’t! Instead shout, “Glory!” because the Word says God’s strength is about to be made perfect in you.
The word translated “strength” in this scripture is dunamis. It means “God’s miracle-working power.” Just think about that. When your human strength ends, God has promised that His miraculous power will bring you through!
If you’ll look in Acts 14, you can see that promise in action. The Apostle Paul was stoned by a group of Jews, taken out of the city and left for dead. Paul’s human strength had ended. He was absolutely powerless.
But the disciples gathered around him and prayed, the Lord raised him up, and he went on his way. In other words, when Paul didn’t have enough human strength to overcome, God’s miracle-working power was sufficient for him. It enabled him to be an overcomer in spite of his weakness!
So, if you are facing a crisis today—
If you’re sick and medicine has failed you—
If your finances are out of control—
If your family is falling apart—
If bad habits have you hopelessly bound—
If you’ve done absolutely all you know to do and you still haven’t gotten results—
Then rejoice! For when human strength ends, the power of God excels!
Only believe!
God’s grace is sufficient for you!
