Four Types of Giving

Genesis 1:28 And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.   

1.Fruitful: always producing 

2.Multiply: always increasing

3.Replenish: use it, fill it, then refill it

4.Subdue: control your environment or your environment will control you 

That’s the divine connection to the blessing.  

So the motivation for giving tithes is obedience. 

The tithes is the way for recession or depression to bypass you. Why? 

You’re under an open heaven The Lord said He would open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it.  

All we have to do is simply obey and the blessings of God follow. The Word has settled it.

Tithing holds God to His promise to rebuke the devourer for your sake.  

So two things are happening.

1. Tithing puts you under an open heaven. 

2. Tithing holds God to His promise to rebuke devourer for your 
sake.

II. The motivation of the ‘First Fruit‘ offering is generosity.

Second type of giving is the ‘First Fruits’. What is it’s motivation? It’s motivation is generosity.

Proverbs 3:9-10 Honour the LORD with thy substance, and with the firstfruits of all thine increase: So shall thy barns be filled with plenty, and thy presses shall burst out with new wine. 

Why generosity. It’s wonderful to be a tither but you must add generosity to your obedience. First fruit offerings show God your gratitude for the extra blessings that He has bestowed upon you. Of the four types of giving, three are given to God and one is given to man. This last, first fruits, giving allows you an option as to where you give it. You can give it to the church, or give it to the ministry if you so desire. The Lord will let you decide.

1. First fruit giving shows God you’re not in love with money. That’s why He trust you with it. It’s a first fruit. It shows gratitude to God. Understand if you’re not doing tithing and giving first fruits, you counteract the blessing of giving. 

2. First fruit is an expression of your love and faith in God’s Word. There are 31 references in the Bible pertaining to first fruits, most occur in the New Testament. Romans 11:16 For if the firstfruit be holy, the lump is also holy: and if the root be holy, so are the branches. 

III. Alms giving motivation is compassion ; not giving to God but to mankind.

Matthew 6:1-4 Take heed that ye do not your alms before men, to be seen  of them: otherwise ye have no reward of your Father which is in heaven. Therefore when thou doest thine alms, do not sound a trumpet before thee, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may have glory of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward. But when thou doest alms, let not thy left hand know what thy right hand doeth: That thine alms may be in secret: and thy Father which seeth in secret himself shall reward thee openly.  

Alms giving in secret is to protect people’s dignity. 90 % of all ministry giving is alms giving.

What is the rate of return in alms giving? Reimbursement. The joy of giving. "It is more blessed to give than to receive". (Acts 20:35)

Proverbs 19:17 He that hath pity upon the poor lendeth unto the LORD; and that which he hath given will he pay him again.   

In other words you get paid back. You don’t receive a 100, 60 or 30 fold.

People sometimes say that giving stuff doesn’t work. Why? Because you turn your tithes and first fruits into alms. God honored you by repaying you. You change the rate of exchange when you turn your tithes into alms. We do not have an option as to where we tithe. Tithing is to be into the storehouse (the church) alone. Here is the answer for why people’s giving is hindered.

Remember if we switch our tithes to alms God will not bring us through recession and depression. 

God will not rebuke the devourer for us. But He will pay you back. As ministers we are bound to the Word not to broadcast our alms giving. Because we are to protect the dignity of people in crisis.

What do most television ministries talk about? Alms. Being moved emotionally is good and God will repay you but you’re  not getting the higher rate of exchange. Remember you’re getting reimbursed but not getting ahead in alms giving.

We can trust the guidance of the Bible.

IV. Fourth type of giving is the seed. It’s motivation is faith and reward.

Seed giving is the only way the 30 fold, 60 fold, or 100 fold offering is received back. 

The seed is the surest way to stop poverty in your life. 

The seed is the quickest way for total debt cancellation.

God said your wealth will take care of your children and grandchildren.

Proverbs 13:22  A good man leaveth an inheritance to his children's children: and the wealth of the sinner is laid up for the just.

This is scripture!

The seed must be put in good soil for you to accomplish the impossible in life. It’s not the amount of seed, it is the soil that you sow it in.

We must take care that we keep these four types of giving in order.

What is our motivation in giving?

Obedience 

Generosity 

Compassion

Faith

Reward

Giving Biblically produces what the Bible says! We can always trust the Word of God!
